Christmas Sphere

My goal in this art piece was to create a vibrant, whimsical drawing with a realistic touch. I accomplished my goal by using fun bright colors and carefully placed lines, shapes, and shadows to ensure a realistic quality. My drawing is about color and the look of shapes when distorted through reflection. The most difficult challenge I had to face was drawing small details with chalk pastel. I met this challenge by leaving out many details in place of blurred lines and shapes. My drawing really works in the area with my hand holding the sphere. I learned that crazy colors and blurry lines can still result in a realistic look. From Genna and Alyssa, I learned that you should stop comparing yourself to others because the aspects you dislike most in your art piece are usually the ones most loved by another artist. If I had a do-over I would redraw the edges of the sphere to make it less green and more blue and I would redraw Alyssa and Genna in the background. I feel like I drew myself the best. I feel like the tree and colored boards really pop.
